Sheffield Labour Councillors
Sheffield Liberal Democrat’s have been caught yet again spreading misinformation to the people of Sheffield, this time about the councils repairs service.
Labour can clarify the following points about the repairs service and urge any tenants in need of repairs to contact the service and not to be put off by Lib Dem lies.
- Emergency repairs are attended to within four hours if there is a major breakdown. Urgent repairs were attended to within 24 hours. There is a 25 day timescale for normal repairs. Pre-Covid the timescale was within 15 days. However due to many workers currently required on major refits, the council is unable to do some jobs in line with safe working practices under the IMG Covid requirements. However, this work is a priority as soon as safe to do so.
- The council completes up to 10,000 repairs each month
- If there are any individual cases where these standards have not been met, please contact Cabinet Member Paul Wood directly who will deal with the issue – write to firstname.lastname@example.org
Despite their continued misinformation about the repairs service, when the Housing Budget was put to council last week the Lib Dem’s refused to support the councils plans to invest an additional £2 million in the repairs service to ensure any backlog created by COVID is cleared.
Councillor Paul Wood said
“When Sheffield has been coming together to tackle the pandemic the Lib Dems have been caught out time and time again spreading misinformation and talking down the efforts of front line council workers, purely to play politics.
“The council is taking repairs extremely seriously, we are completing up to 10,000 per month, and before the pandemic the time to complete repairs reduced significantly. We have made £2 million of extra investment available to deal with any backlog caused by the pandemic, which the Lib Dems refused to support only last week.”
