Breaking announcement as Labour councillors take action to extend opening hours of council Household Waste Recycling Centres so all sites will be open for 7 days a week from tomorrow 9.30am – 5.30pm.
In addition, Blackstock and Beighton sites will open until 8pm for Easter Bank Holiday: Good Friday, Saturday, Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.
Labour Councillor Mark Jones, Cabinet Member for the Environment and Streetscene: “We know the demand to use our Household Waste Recycling Centres grows at this time of year. That is why we are extending the opening times for our Household Waste Recycling Centres so all of the sites will be open for 7 days a week from the beginning of April.
“We know that the aster Weekend is likely to be particularly busy and that is why we are extending the opening hours until 8pm at Beighton and Blackstock Road. We will enter consultation with the workforce about making these extended times a more regular occurrence.
“We are also pleased to be trialling use of the Tinsley Park Road site for small items, household waste and garden waste.
“Through the pandemic we were one of the only councils to not close our recycling centres and keep them open throughout. Through these increased opening hours and open for 7 days a week we are doing everything we can to improve this service for people.”
Customers must now wear a face covering on site.
This is because we are going to lift the restriction to numbers on site.
We recommend customers wear gloves whilst on site and use hand sanitiser when they have finished depositing their waste and recycling.
Customers are responsible for maintaining social distancing on site.
To ensure safe working for our staff, site staff will remain behind barriers for social distancing social distancing and unable to provide assistance due to social distancing.
