Commenting on the news that the Government have decided to delay the removal of all restrictions, Cllr Terry Fox, Leader of Sheffield City CouncilĀ  commented “I have the greatest sympathy with everyone who’s plans have been thrown into disarray once again. Like everyone in the city I have plans over the summer, such as attending British Grand Prix, which are now left uncertain. With so much disruption we’ve all faced over the last 15 months, these extra four weeks are hard on everyone but we’re a tough and resilient bunch in Sheffield so I’m sure we’ll get through it together. we have to balance up the risks associated with the transmission of the virus against removal of restrictions.

“But the Government have to take responsibility for their incompetence failed policies in handling the pandemic that has led to this variant taking off. Business and communities across Sheffield and the country have been decimated. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has to continue to support such as hospitality, music, theatre and related businesses after his latest decision to continue with restrictions”.
