A local family has worked with councillors to have safety barriers installed at Short Brook bridge following a tragic accident in July 2022 in which Ricky Davies fell into the river and lost his life. The new barriers installed recently are designed to ensure a similar accident can’t happen again.

Councillor Tony Downing, Mosborough Ward said:

“The family’s wish was for safety barriers to be installed so that no other family would have to suffer losing a loved one in this way.

Sam Nicholson, Labour candidate for Mosborough Ward said:

“The Councils contractors were initially reluctant to install the barriers. But the family have shown great determination that these rails should be installed – it’s a lasting tribute to Ricky.

Mr Clive Betts, Member of Parliament for Sheffield South East said:

“We are pleased to have helped the family get the request for barriers actioned.
