A very brief history
Labour reclaimed control of the council from the Liberal Democrats in 2011. Since then we have led the city through some of its toughest times – the on-going Coronavirus pandemic, and a decade of government austerity. Since the Tory-Lib Dem coalition formed in 2010 the council’s budget has faced cuts and financial pressures totalling £475 million. This is a huge £50% of the council’s budget! Government enforced austerity isn’t over for councils and local services.
Despite these difficult times, we remain committed to a fairer, greener, more prosperous Sheffield for everyone and every community.
